The second step to becoming an unrestricted pilot is to complete your Private Pilot Licence (PPL).

When you have successful completed your PPL, you will be able to spread your wings and fly as the pilot in command of light, single engine aircraft throughout Australia during the day, carrying passengers, during acceptable weather conditions.

Course Pre-Requisites

Before you can hold an PPL, the following must be obtained:

Oberon Aviation provides an in-house theory course for the CASA PPL exam covering all these topics.

  • Complete solo cross-country navigation

Lessons generally consist of a 45-minute briefing covering information for the planned flight, followed by cross country flights both dual and solo. Post flight, our instructor will debrief the lesson and discuss achievement levels.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

This depends on whether you are available to study full-time or casually. For our full-time trainees, the flying component should take approximately two weeks from their RPL, to undertake the PPL flight test. If you wish to study on a casual basis, the amount of time varies based on how often you wish to fly. Courses can be tailored to meet almost any requirements.
